The secret to village empowerment lies with women. Hence AHIMSA has taken on the task to equip women with the information and tap their skills to build their confidence moulding them to be leaders in their own right to catalyse development.
- Formation of Self Help Groups – AHIMSA has helped set up over 120 Self Help Groups for women. They are encouraged to set up small businesses such as tailoring units, millet food stalls, petty shops and dry-cleaning units besides agriculture and animal husbandry to make them financially independent
- Federations – three federations, with women as participants, have been set up to promote the smooth running of different businesses. Women are assisted in various business operations; this eventually leads to confidence and financial independence
- Loan disbursement – Women are given financial support by providing small loans to start their own businesses. MICROGRAAM is one such unit that assists women through their loan schemes.
